Made a quick stop, nice view. Did not go on the short trail, would likely have a higher rating if we had, but trail went downhill and I was too tired from excessive hiking earlier in the day to do anymore
Whaleshead Beach is one of our favorite places... Beautiful sandy beach, fabulous vistas and a person can walk ad far as you wish... 4 wheel drive is recommended to het from the highway to the beach parking lot, but one can also park a car near the highway and take a short walk down to the beach. Vault toilets are available. Worth the visit!!!
Whaleshead is beautiful. Getting down to the beach though is rough. Signs sat 4 wheel drive recommended in the main beach turn..then theres the view point which also brings you all the way down if you choose but it's incredibly steep towards the bottom. Then remember you'll need to climb back up. If you're in good shape then it's doable..but plan to be like in real good shape. I was happy to stop half way and take in the views. My husband and son, and nephew braved it.
The beach and view were lovely but getting to the beach was a bit difficult. There is a rocky stream, with slippery rocks that you have to cross. We made it to the beach but with a dog and beach equipment it wasn't the ideal situation. I loved the view but am not planning on making this a stop on future beach visits as there are so many other options!
Easy hike with easy inclines. Its pretty but it won't take your breath away like some trails in this area. If you're new to hiking or looking for something easy, I would do this.
Nice place with a steep trail down to the beach.
Spectacular view. There's even a sweet little bench to drink your coffee and soak in the beauty.
Sketchy drive down to the beach, but not bad. Wonderful views.
